IDEA
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a law that makes sure students with disabilities get the education and support they need. IDEA is a federal law that guarantees students with disabilities the right to a free and appropriate public education (FAPE). It ensures access to special education, services, accommodations and supports designed to meet each student's unique needs, and it provides the foundation for creating an Individualized Education Programs (IEP). IDEA requires schools to create an individualized education program (IEP) for each student, which is a plan that lists their hearing goals, special services, and any help they need in the classroom. Together IDEA, and IEP's make sure every student has a fair chance to learn and succeed.
